Our Story

A self-made chef, Heav’nly Foods owner Reneé Phillips is quick to credit her love for all things culinary to lessons she learned firsthand from her father and stepfather when she was a young child.

A self-made chef, Heav’nly Foods owner Reneé Phillips is quick to credit her love for all things culinary to lessons she learned firsthand from her father and stepfather when she was a young child.

A southern Indiana native, Reneé found commercial success once she moved to Texas and began selling sweet treats from her home to local convenience stores. After several years of juggling motherhood and marriage, the divorced mother later found love again in the most unlikely place—a car dealership. David and Reneé Phillips united while working side-by-side at the local establishment and the dream of reviving her earlier culinary success for all things sweet was reborn.

The couple used a portion of a family inheritance to open their first brick-and-mortar location in Mount Pleasant in 2011. What started out as a one-stop shop bakery complete with delectable grab-and-go meals and delicious desserts quickly turned into a cafe for dine-in and takeout lunch service. The business later expanded to feed local educators at the Region 8 Education Service Center just south of Mount Pleasant.

In January 2018, Heav’nly Foods moved into an even larger facility located at 2217 W. Ferguson Road in Mount Pleasant. While the business now also features a premiere steakhouse and dining experience, the Phillips’ have remained true to the principles of always putting God first and providing delicious and affordable food to families throughout Northeast Texas.
